Favourites || March ’16

Another month, another faves. March has gone by so quickly I barely even noticed we were reaching the end of it, and now it’s the beginning of April, absolute madness. Here’s a few things that I was loving in the month that seemed to pass me by.

Girls – TV Series

A friend of mine recently got me into this show by going on about how weird it was to see one of the characters in the new Star Wars movie. When I started watching Girls I had no idea what to expect, apart from ‘Kylo Ren’ and a few quotes I had heard time and time again from my friend. It basically follows the life of a group of friends in their 20s as they grow, learn and make a lot of mistakes and bad life decisions – it’s super entertaining and some of the lines in it are just killer. Initially I hated Adam. However the more I watched it the more I grew to love him in a way, still aware that he wasn’t perfect. I think that’s what I love most about this series – I can’t pick a favourite character. They all make me laugh, but they all kinda piss me off a little bit too; it can get pretty ridiculous but it’s all very real at the same time. Adam is definitely a better person than Hannah though. The more I watch it the less I can stand her, and don’t even get me started on Marnie. I’m just annoyed because I can’t seem to watch the second half of season three anywhere so I’m stuck without it for now, but that’s okay, because Game of Thrones is coming real soon.

HANA – Musician

This month, at least from the 10th onwards…has been all about HANA. I went to see Grimes in London super spontaneously and of course, I was gobsmacked by the whole night. Thing is it wasn’t just Grimes who took my breath away that night. Bloody fabulous HANA took over my mind completely. It’s as if she had some kind of goddess aura, to the point that even though my favourite person, like, ever was on stage, I found my eyes on HANA. I’m not going to say too much because there may be more about HANA to come…but yes, definitely a fave this month.

Soak and Float – Lush Shampoo Bar

I did not need a new shampoo. However I did “need” a shampoo that smelt like one of my favourite perfumes. Designed to be really great for soothing flaky scalps, Soak and Float has been well known for its “bonfire” scent. It has however had a bit of a reformulation – still great for the scalp, but much more of a sensual smoky scent to match the sweet and smoky perfume, All Good Things. I love it, and even though nothing will ever replace my beloved Cynthia Sylvia Stout, this isn’t a bad little shampoo at all.

Geidi Primes tee – Grimes

More about Grimes. This is a tee I’ve wanted for a while now, so when I saw it at Brixton Academy at a slightly cheaper price to the online store, I couldn’t help myself. Geidi Primes isn’t necessarily my favourite album musically, but it does feature one or two of my favourite Grimes tracks and I think it may be my favourite artwork. I also adore how the tee has the roses on the sleeves, I just think it’s a nice little touch. I’ve been wearing this a lot this month, it fits nicely, it looks so rad and I could just live in it 24/7.

Pineapple and Ginger candle – Primark

This. Candle. Smells. Amazing. Oh. My. God. I am now obsessed with all things pineapple. I just picked this up on one of my many ventures into town when I spend a load of money that I don’t really have. I always end up popping into Primark, feeling like it’s okay to spend money in there because it’s so cheap. Dangerous territory. Especially now that I’ve fallen in love with this bloomin’ candle, and I’m worried they’re going to stop doing it soon so have since stocked up on a couple more. I did also treat myself to a couple of Yankee Candles but am saving them for my new flat (eek!) so perhaps they’ll be in the next favourites…

‘Blessed’ mug – Urban Outfitters

blessed mug

“I don’t need any more mugs” – I say this a LOT. Of course when I see a mug like this I just can’t help myself, especially after seeing it there every time and wanting it more and more each day. Half of me thinks it’s really cute, the other half thinks it’s trashy as hell – and that’s just what I love about it. I don’t know how much can I talk about a mug, it holds drinks, I like how it looks, yeah that’s about it I suppose.
