Seeing as we are a few months into the year, I thought it is best I do a quickfire round up of what I have been loving so far for each month. I’m talking everything from the hottest tracks, new albums and live show highlights.
January
๐ฅ Hottest Tracks ๐ฅ
Shygirl / Club Shy / Isabella Lovestory / PinkPantheress – True Religion
JADE – IT girl
FKA Twigs – Perfect Stranger
The Horrors – More Than Life
Djo – Basic Being Basic
Considering I never got too caught up in Little Mix, I have absolutely been loving JADE’s solo journey. She owns it with a unique yet accessible sound that sits perfectly in the pop world with an edge of intrigue. Now all we have to do is wait until September 12th to hear the rest of it in her debut album, THAT’S SHOWBIZ BABY!. As for current releases, the album of the month undoubtedly goes to FKA twigs – Eusexua. There is something lowkey iconic about creating a whole new word for your album title. Who needs a dictionary definition when you can have 11 tracks to perfectly encapsulate the feeling of transcending human form purely from a sheer state of euphoria.
February
๐ฅ Hottest Tracks ๐ฅ
Fontaines D.C. – It’s Amazing To Be Young
Lady Gaga – Abracadabra
Doechii – Nosebleeds
MARINA – BUTTERFLY
Djo – Delete Ya
In all honesty I think things slowed a little in February as far as my intentional listening goes. Lady Gaga and Doechii were obviously doing the rounds, but I was absolutely buzzing at the surprise release of the new Fontaines D.C. track. Equally excited for MARINA to have returned with her poptastic BUTTERFLY, and well worth mentioning that her track CUNTISSIMO pops right off. Shout out to the Shygirl’s Club Shy Room 2 EP which took some of the later 2024 releases and definitely got over played by yours truly. After all, in the name of Shy we trust.
MARCH
๐ฅ Hottest Tracks ๐ฅ
CMAT – Running/Planning
Marie Davidson – Fun Times
Chappell Roan – The Giver
BIG WETT – CRAZY
I am sure I will look back on this later and find another March track that slapped, but for now we have a pretty decent four. Running/Planning from CMAT was probably my first big wow moment of 2025 and her upcoming album Euro Country is one of my most anticipated of the year. I have unequivocally fallen head over heels for this queen, and I cannot wait to see what more delights she has up her sleeve. Marie Davidson is a new addition to my playlists but has very quickly become a staple in most with her take on techno and dance. I am really drawn to a certain French style of music and following a feature on Radio 6, I just can’t get enough of Davidson, especially with honourable mention to her 2024 single Sexy Clown. CRAZY was a track that just completely took a hold of me with its sheer energy, CRAZY by name, CRAZY by nature.
APRIL
๐ฅ Hottest Tracks ๐ฅ
Pulp – Spike Island
Wet Leg – catch these fists
Cheetah / Nia Archives – Get Loose
Adult DVD – Because I Like It
The Dare – LCA
April delivered the goods particularly with new Pulp, new Wet Leg and a whole new favourite for me in Adult DVD. This was the month that really kicked off my return to actively consuming music. With two consecutive gigs at Ramsgate Music Hall I saw Vermont alt/punk rockers THUS LOVE perform with London’s five-piece Ain’t, and Gengahr celebrate 10 years of their debut album, A Dream Outside with support from Alice Costelloe. Both nights reminded me of my passion in very different ways and are probably the reason this return to the blog has even happened. Therefore, it only seemed right I give them some proper attention in my post about Reconnecting to Music here.

๐ฅ Hottest Tracks ๐ฅ
Wolf Alice – Bloom Baby Bloom
CMAT – Take a Sexy Picture of Me
These are honestly the only tracks that matter to me this month. Wolf Alice are back baby back. I called this the minute I saw them on the Glastonbury line up, and then there was the long old month of them teasing their new single, Bloom Baby Bloom. I’m not exaggerating when I say that it has been an absolute ride for me. A new sound blended with that classic Wolf Alice guitar, never knowing which way it was going to go – safe to say that first listen was pretty special. It is immediately my favourite track of the year even if a little biased seeing as they are one of my favourite bands of all time. I have equally been spamming CMAT yet again with her latest, and yes, I have been doing the TikTok dance every damn time. Both Wolf Alice and CMAT are releasing their new albums on the same day, so I can imagine that August 29th will be quite the chaotic day for me personally – and I cannot wait.
I kicked off the month seeing Welly play the last show of their seaside tour at Ramsgate Music Hall. Being relatively new to the world of Welly it was a bit of a punt, and it sure paid off. They are easily one of the most fun bands around at the moment, and their classic indie/brit-pop sound comes injected with a vibrant new energy that comes alive on stage, making them an absolute must-see band. I then saw Lime Garden at Whereelse? in Margate, with Adult DVD, Hot Stamp and Blue Mirror. I always enjoy seeing Lime Garden and this show was particularly special with them playing some tracks from the upcoming album ahead of its recording. You can expect that same old Lime Garden charm, this time with a little more dance, which was particularly fitting that night, considering the absolute belter of a set from Adult DVD. The Leeds group caught my attention from clips of their Radio 6 festival set, so I had some level of expectation, but it was still blown completely out of the water. Seeing them live was like being at a party, non-stop movement and joy – I can barely believe it was the first time they had performed Because I Like It to a crowd. The energy in the room was so palpable and though there were definitely a few people already familiar with them, I am pretty sure they gained a bunch of new fans that night. I won’t lie; I got home and listened on repeat until I couldn’t move anymore. I will definitely be seeing them again someday.

So that’s you briefly caught up on where I am at with music in 2025 so far. I’m sure some of the bands and artists I have mentioned already will pop up again in future posts, but there are also bound to be way more new ones to rave about in no time. Keep up with my 2025 Faves on Spotify:
