My Top 10 Albums 2025

My Top 10 Albums 2025

As per usual, the last few weeks have seen me agonising over what my favourite albums of the year have been. Some are absolute no brainers for my Top 10, while others may be slightly more interchangeable, particularly over the course of the year. There are definitely a few that came out earlier in the year that I felt so excited about and still love, but I think some of the more recent releases are indeed taking precedence. Perhaps the best way to look at it is as a collection of albums that played a significant part of my 2025 rather than which ones I think are critically unbeatable (for the most part). Whether or not I change my mind, let’s lock in the favourites for right here, right now. In no particular order…

We might as well get the obvious one out of the way. As soon as Wolf Alice appeared on the line up for Glastonbury this year, I just knew they were making a comeback. That being said, the overall sound of The Clearing was not at all what I expected. At first this frightened me. The first single ‘Bloom Baby Bloom’ had filled me so much excitement and became my most played song across Spotify and YouTube. I was so ready for their new material, and once I embraced the new direction I fell entirely in love with this album. It is the only album that I know for sure sits at the top of this year’s list, which may well be down to Wolf Alice being one of my favourite bands of all time. Still, this is the band experimenting with new styles and set up, which played out beautifully on their arena tour at the end of the year. Well worth the wait and I can’t wait to continue listening to this over and over for the end of time.

There is not a chance in hell that I can talk about 2025 in music without mentioning CMAT. She has quite frankly been my favourite overall. I was already obsessed, but she has been an absolutely formidable force this year. I think for me my love for her is rooted in the live show. I saw her at Primavera, will see her again at Ally Pally next year and you bet I have watched various videos of her live performances, most notably her Glastonbury Pyramid Stage debut. Euro-Country was easily one of my most anticipated albums of the year and it did not disappoint. ‘Running/Planning’ and ‘Take A Sexy Picture’ remain a couple of my top tracks but truth be told I could play this album in its entirety back to back, on repeat and then some. CMAT has my heart and the release of Euro-Country was a major moment.

I cannot tell you enough, just how invested I am with the shift in style and dynamic of Wet Leg this year. Their album moisturizer came with a whole new visual aesthetic, nevertheless the essence of Wet Leg remained. This album feels effortlessly cool, with lyrical genius in abundance. It is both witty and tender, naughty and nice, and I think I might even like it more than their debut release, which is generally quite rare for me. Standout tracks are ‘mangetout’, ‘catch these fists’ and ‘CPR’. I mean honestly, I could just write the whole tracklist here. After the grit of ‘catch these fists’ I’m not sure I was immediately ready for the sweeter tones of ‘davina mccall’, but it soon became another favourite of mine. In a nutshell, moisturizer covers all bases (the good the bad and the ugly) of falling in love, which is exactly what I ended up doing with this album.

It is at this point where the order of my top 10 albums really becomes a little more fluid. So, we’ll continue with another one of my most anticipated. Having not been particularly fussed with Little Mix, I was never really expecting one of them to become a hot new favourite of mine. Then JADE came along and released ‘Angel of My Dreams’ ahead of new album That’s Showbiz Baby! – I was hooked. I have definitely embraced more pop music over the last few years, but most of what I love will retain a certain edge that JADE certainly comes armed with. It was fun, smart and a banger all in one, I simply could not wait to hear more. Each song from that point came as a hit, and I’m not just talking about me playing ‘IT Girl’ on repeat on the treadmill (seriously, it works wonders for an incline strut). I also adored JADE’s release with Confidence Man and cannot wait to see her at Primavera next year. More on that another time though.

What can I say about this album? This was pure fun and while not my most critically acclaimed favourite, it became such a moment of the year. First of all, it was a surprise release from Tyler, the Creator, much less thought out than last year’s Chromakopia. I have to admit I still haven’t given that album my full attention, but I fully got swept up in the manic energy of Don’t Tap The Glass. Obviously, ‘Sugar on My Tongue’ was an instant hit, both on record and on stage. Maybe it’s the needy in me, but I also found myself loving ‘Ring Ring Ring’, particularly vibing the opening lyrics, “I hope you good, I hope you well, I hope you lit” – I couldn’t tell you why, they just scratch an itch every time. I am interested to see how this album stands the test of the time. Either way, I spent a lot of time listening to this in 2025 and had an absolute blast every time, so I would be remiss not to mention it.

I mean, need I say anything at all about West End Girl? Yet another surprise release, this time courtesy of Lily Allen. I just love the absolute drama of it all. It truly feels like listening to a mate spilling all the gossip in a series of voice notes. It is brutal and funny, and most prominently, it is an open account of real heartbreak. It is hard to remember a world where ‘Pussy Palace’ was not a song, and I let out a real little laugh at ‘4chan Stan’. I think this was easily one of the key musical moments of the year, whether you listened to it or not. The world had been missing that Allen wit, and here she delivered it thick and fast, quite frankly out of the blue. A pleasant surprise for us listeners and a warning for any future lovers. Don’t mess with this one, or not only will the whole world know what you did, they’ll be singing about it too.

Now there were many anticipated albums this year, but Addison is not one I saw coming. I’ll be honest I wasn’t even really aware of Addison Rae previous to the Charli xcx Von dutch remix. Even when I first heard ‘Diet Pepsi’ I never made the connection. Then before I knew it, I was playing ‘Headphones On’ and ‘Fame Is a Gun’ on repeat. This was definitely me diving in to my love for pop again, and I am being deadly serious when I say that seeing her name on the lineup for Primavera 2026 played a major part in me buying a ticket for the second time. I still can’t quite wrap my head around her being on the bill next to The Cure, but I do know I love it.

Then I tapped back into my Radio 6 Dad vibes. Listening to Nick Grimshaw most mornings, I simply couldn’t not know about Geese. Although I do feel significantly late to the party, those distinct vocals have taken a hold over me. Geese are for sure one of those bands I will dedicate some serious listening time to. I find myself getting way more enjoyment out of listening to the album Getting Killed in full rather than dipping in and out. That, and watching videos of them performing live. Another one I’m looking forward to seeing next year at that festival in Barcelona that I can’t stop going on about.

I did my homework late with this one. Since seeing Divorce support Lime Garden at Whereelse? in Margate a couple years back, I just knew I had to see them again when they returned in December this year. I bought the tickets many months ago despite not having yet listened to the new album, Drive to Goldenhammer. In the end I crammed it all in on the day, but since the show I have gone back to it time and time again. If it is not the album in its entirety it is ‘Antartica’, ‘All My Freaks’ and ‘Hangman’ as my standout tracks. I know this is about the album, but I cannot go on enough about how incredible Divorce are on stage. I felt overwhelmed with all the emotions at their recent Margate show. From pure joy, to heartbreak and just the absolute awe in hearing the power of their vocals, as well as the passion reflected back from the crowd. It reminded me of the feeling I had when I saw Foxing in London years ago, the feeling of unity between band and fans. It was almost biblical, and I have barely stopped listening to the album since.

I just could not get enough of the pop girlies this year. Sabrina Carpenter teased her new album relentlessly and unsurprisingly it proved to be a hit. ‘Manchild’ came in thick and fast with a catchy hook and comedic poetry to boot. ‘House Tour’ was on repeat and for me ‘Tears’ was the moment I knew this album was a fave of mine. Man’s Best Friend is a fun album that got some criticism particularly about the artwork, but I am very much on the side of it being a little tongue in cheek and a lil twist on power play if anything.

So that’s my Top 10 for now, the albums that I recall the most from 2025. Honourable mentions absolutely must go out to RosaliaLux, FKA twigsEusexua, Blood Orange Essex Honey and Djo The Crux. Maybe one of those last four will be a forever favourite in the future, but for whatever reason I found myself gravitating to the others that little bit more throughout the year.

In 2026 I definitely want to put more time in to new albums. I’ll still be collecting my fave new singles and hopefully sharing a little bit more as I go. Here’s to another year of way more new music. For now I’ll leave you with what I collated for my Hottest Tracks of 2025:
