Noise Cannon’s Ones to Watch in 2015: Wolf Alice

The delightful pop-grunge scene is making a comeback and at the very foreground of it all is North London four-piece Wolf Alice. This band may be not be new to your ears but five years since their formation seems as good a time as any to predict a breakthrough, especially with a slot at Alt-J’s upcoming London O2 Arena show next Saturday (24th).

Wolf Alice consists of vocalist Ellie Rowsell and guitarist Joff Oddie as well as bassist Theo Ellis who, along with drummer Joel Amey, joined the band in 2012. It wasn’t long before the band released a single on Soundcloud, ‘Leaving You’, which got them onto Radio 1 and NME’s radar. The first official EP Blush was released towards the end of 2013 before the band signed to Dirty Hit Records the following year, under which they released latest EP Creature Songs.

Powerful guitar backs the delicate yet domineering vocals of Rowsell, creating a unique blend of pop and rock washed in grungy indie vibes. Ideal to rid you of those winter blues, expect to see Wolf Alice all over the festival line ups this year.
