Leave it to a genius of experimental music to create something that is both lively and somewhat soothing. Though at first hinting at a typical (yet nonetheless strong) electronic number, Bonobo’s latest track ‘Flashlight’ soon opens up to the idea of a fuse between electronica and funk. It’s a song that can liven you up or cool you down, fitting in to whatever context you need it to. Mind-numbing in all the right ways, ‘Flashlight’ is upbeat, and, without getting too philosophical here, full of clarity in the striking nature of each sound, closing with an otherworldly tone.
